Freshen Up This Spring
- Posted on: Mar 15 2018
Has winter left your skin looking dry and dull? Start the new season with a fresh new look. Microneedling with PRP is one of the most effective treatments for a range of skin conditions, and the procedure takes very little time. We recommend microneedling for men and women who want the most natural anti-aging solutions available.
What is Microneedling?
Microneedling is a cosmetic skin treatment that draws upon your body’s natural healing process to repair and tighten the skin. For our patients, we use the SkinPen® microneedling instrument. SkinPen® is designed with a series of very tiny needles that penetrate the skin to create micro-injuries. Your body starts to heal the micro-injuries by stimulating collagen production.
How Does PRP Improve the Results of Microneedling?
PRP, or platelet-rich plasma, is a derivative of your blood that contains growth factors. It is used throughout the medical community for injuries to the soft tissues and other structures. When PRP is used in conjunction with microneedling, it enhances the healing process. We extract the PRP from a small sample of your blood that is taken at the time of your microneedling treatment.
How Will Microneedling with PRP Help My Skin?
Microneedling with PRP helps with:
- Enlarged pores
- Lax skin
- Some types of scars
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Poor skin texture
When Will I See Results?
After each of your microneedling treatments, your skin may be slightly red. Some patients also experience minor swelling. After approximately four weeks, you will see changes in your skin. You may need several microneedling with PRP treatments to achieve the desired results.
Can Microneedling with PRP Be Combined with Other Treatments?
If you have cosmetic concerns that cannot be treated effectively with microneedling, we may recommend other treatments to freshen up your skin. We will discuss the scheduling of these treatments during your consultation.
