Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty in Houston, TX
Many people have features about their noses that they aren’t thrilled with, but they’re not interested in surgical nose surgery, clinically known as rhinoplasty. But Dr. Carpin has extensive experience using dermal fillers to augment certain areas of the nose, changing the shape and definition. These completely non-invasive procedures are known as non-surgical rhinoplasty, or a non-surgical nose job.
What is non-surgical rhinoplasty?
With non-surgical rhinoplasty, the goal is to alter and shape a patient’s nose without surgery. Dr. Carpin uses mainly hyaluronic acid fillers, such as Restylane and Juvederm, for these procedures. She injects these fillers to augment areas of the nose and mask problems such as a bump on the bridge or a drooping tip. This is all done in just 15 minutes and there is no recovery time.
What nose issues can be changed with non-surgical rhinoplasty?
Dr. Carpin can address these cosmetic problems with your nose:
- Build up a flat or depressed bridge
- Correct a droopy tip
- Eliminate a pronounced bump on the bridge
- Straighten a slightly curved nose
- Slightly reduce large nostrils
- Fill depressed sidewalls
- Increase the height and definition of the bridge
By making your nose straighter, non-surgical rhinoplasty can actually make your nose appear smaller, although it is actually augmented. Adding definition has that effect.
Who is a good candidate for non-surgical rhinoplasty?
Good candidates for this non-invasive procedure usually have a bump on the bridge, a droopy tip, a mildly crooked nose, or a depression on the bridge or on the sidewalls. By filling the areas around the problem the nose can appear to be perfectly straight and more defined.
Obviously, the ideal candidate also wants to avoid nose surgery.
But if your nose is too big, Dr. Carpin cannot make it smaller with a non-surgical nose job. A non-surgical rhinoplasty won’t help if you’ve had your nose broken and it is uneven and maybe has some functional problems. These issues with your nose can only be changed through surgical rhinoplasty.
How is non-surgical rhinoplasty done?
Dr. Carpin first applies topical anesthetic to your nose. This will make the injections virtually painless. She then injects the dermal filler into areas around the cosmetic problem. For instance, if you have a depression on your bridge, she will inject filler to bring that area up, making the bridge appear straight even though the depression in the underlying cartilage is still there. The non-surgical nose job procedure takes just 15 minutes for most patients.
Is it painful to have non-surgical rhinoplasty?
Thanks to the topical anesthetic, you won’t feel pain with the injections. You may feel a slight sense of pressure, but that’s about it.
How long before I will see my results?
Dermal fillers provide instant results. When your 15-minute session is complete, you’ll love your new nose.
Is there recovery with non-surgical rhinoplasty?
There is no recovery. You may have slight bruising for a couple days at the injection sites, but this is minimal. Patients can get back to their regular activities immediately after leaving Dr. Carpin’s office.
How long will my results last?
Hyaluronic acid fillers, such as Restylane and Juvederm, provide results usually from six months to one year. This varies by the patient’s metabolism and other factors. Radiesse is made from calcium hydroxyapatite instead of hyaluronic acid. It can provide results for up to 16 months.
What if I don’t like my results?
One great aspect of using hyaluronic acid fillers to, in effect, “demo” a new nose, is that if you don’t like the look of your new nose the results can be erased. That’s because hyaluronic acid fillers can be instantly dissolved with injections of an enzyme called hyaluronidase. This can only be done with hyaluronic acid fillers.
Demo a nose job
The nice thing about non-surgical rhinoplasty is that patients are able to demo a new nose without the changes being permanent. As mentioned above, the filler can be immediately dissolved by injecting an enzyme, or you can simply wait for the fillers to be metabolized over the course of nine months to a year.
Then, if you like the changes in your nose and would like to make them permanent, Dr. Carpin can perform surgical rhinoplasty.
